We are seeking an experienced Histotechnician/Mohs Surgery Tech to support a high volume dermatology practice assisting with Mohs surgeries.  Mohs Histotechs accurately perform basic histology procedures of processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis, prepare solutions as needed and assist the physician during MOHS surgery.

We are looking for a candidate with (but not limited to) the following:

• Perform Histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to achieve high quality Pathology slides for review.

• Responsible for providing skilled surgical and medical support to the MOHS surgeon with the patients' care, comfort, safety, and confidentiality as primary concerns.  Prepare patients' charts, forms, instruments, and equipment needed for surgery and patient care.  Take detailed patient history, and have patient properly draped for the exam, prepare for surgery and assist surgeon

• Prepare histological samples, map, flatten, paraffin embed samples, frozen section samples, sectioning, staining (routine and non-routine), perform Immunohistochemistries, review samples, ensure quality standards and maintain all documentation.

• Comply with all OSHA (safety), CLIA and CAP (lab certification and accreditation programs) and HIPAA (patient confidentiality) regulations in the performance of all aspects of the position. 

• Perform routine housekeeping duties; keep rooms and laboratory stocked with supplies, efficiently organize, file and dispose of all specimens in accordance with applicable regulations.

• Participates in external and internal proficiency testing.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory applications for Histology/Cytology to perform job duties

Experience & Skills Required

• Two+ years of Mohs Tech experience is required
